From Jesus

In our new “Club Alumni” series, you can get to know former Club visitors. What memories do they still have of the club? What does their life look like today? Last Friday we introduced you to Alicia, today we continue with Jesus from Peru.
Dear Jesus, you were a regular at ClubIn from September 2016 to 2018. How did you find your way to ClubIn?
When I was a language student, I met many au pairs in the course. One of them knew ClubIn and told me about it. However, I didn’t get to know ClubIn because of her. Because at some point I met Aga, who volunteers at ClubIn. I came to ClubIn in the beginning just to visit her when she was on shift. My first visit was quite nice, a beer, listening to music, talking to Aga a bit and so on.
So actually I forgot how the first visit was exactly, but I’m quite sure it must have been because after that I came more often and repeated all that. After that I would go home, with laughter and happiness.
It sounds like you felt very comfortable at ClubIn. Can you say what your best memory of your time at ClubIn is?
It’s hard to choose what my fondest memory is. Every time was special at ClubIn. Every Friday or outing was really something nice, but if I have to choose just one memory, I would say the training days for ClubIn staff. The first time I was invited to this, I wasn’t even a staff member yet, but I still got to go. It was the first time since I had come to Germany that I had gone with a group. After the training, Ulrike and Bianca gave me the chance to be part of the volunteer group. I gladly accepted the chance. So that would be the best memory of ClubIn.
You came to Germany as an au pair. What are you doing today?
I am currently studying civil engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich.
Wow, then we wish you every success in your further studies! Is there anything else you would like to say to the young people who are now new in Munich?
I would tell them that if they are looking for a place to relax, get some advice and even help to meet people, then they should definitely go to ClubIn. Not only are the staff qualified, but they have often experienced themselves what the visitors are experiencing now as au pairs, language students, trainees or students.
